Step 2: Increase Access to eFilings for Self-Representing Litigants

Second, I will have increased conversations with the Administrative Office of the Courts (AOC), about plans to expedite rollout of the eFiling system to non-attorney filers.  This topic has been on the table with the AOC for a few years, and I will diligently work towards a solution to make this a reality.  I will be a big advocate for making the court system easy to use by self-representing litigants.

A self-representing litigant is a person who initiates a court case filing without an attorney. This does not mean an attorney could not be added to the case at a later date, it just allows the non-attorney individual to get the process started.

The court system can become a complex system to navigate; however, with technology, we can bridge that gap and make it simpler for those who do not have the resources for an attorney. I plan to open up the Fayette County court system to the AOC for this effort. Together, we will be a driving force to make this highly-advanced eFiling system available to all users of the court system.  All citizens of Fayette County deserve the opportunity to file, at their convenience, with the eFiling system.  I plan to use all the resources at my disposal to make this happen sooner, rather than later.

Connect with me on any of my social media platforms, and let me know how you would utilize the court system, once eFiling is available to you.
